Penetanguishine High School
Design Challenges & Solutions:
The building was slated for demolition due to health and safety issues stemming from deteriorating exterior brickwork. It was salvaged with a comprehensive approach using an insulted cavity wall/rain screen systemcladding the existing wall structure.
The work included new brick masonry on the first level and aluminum panels at the upper level. Spray-in-place foam insulation filled the existing brick defects and also acted as a vapour barrier.
The result is a resurrected school with a modern appearance, greatly enhanced thermal performance and a new lease on life.
